You can confirm a booking on the website where you find the best offer, but it is mandatory to read Terms and Conditions.


What documents do I need to rent a car?

You need an ID (ID card, passport), a national or international driving licence (if the issuer of the licence is outside the EU) and a debit card issued in your name (we accept Visa and Mastercard). We DO NOT accept cards belonging to spouses, relatives or anyone other than the person signing the rental agreement.


Can I pay cash?

Can I pay with American Express?

Unfortunately not, the only cards we accept are Visa/Mastercard debit or credit cards.


If I confirm a reservation on the AMA RENT A CAR website, do I have to pay in advance?

No, it isn't. In the final stage, you must choose to pay on arrival. We do not give priority to prepaid reservations, so all reservations are secure.


How old should I be to rent a car from AMA RENT A CAR?

To qualify for a standard car rental, the main driver and additional drivers must be at least 23 years old and have a valid driving licence for at least 12 months.
If the main driver or additional drivers are under 23 years of age (between 18 and 22 years) and have a valid driving licence of at least 12 months, they can rent a car if they pay the "Young Driver" fee of EUR 50. (Drivers over 23 years of age will not pay the "Young Driver" fee.)


I need to extend my car rental period. What should I do?

To extend your car rental, please follow the steps below:

- First, visit our website WWW.AMA-RENTACAR.RO, click on Manage Booking (Manage your reservation).

- Enter your e-mail address and the booking number you received from us.

- You will be able to access your reservation and change the car delivery date by adding days to the reservation period.

- The price will be generated by the website and you will pay online by card using an online payment method.

Please note that the extension will only be carried out and confirmed after you pay for it.

How many additional drivers can I add to my contract?

The first additional driver is free of charge, the second additional driver is charged a fee of 30 euro.

If I book a car with you, can I get the exact car displayed on the website? If not, why not?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the model of the car. We guarantee the car category (another car with the same space/specs), and if there is no car available in that category, we will offer you a free upgrade (a car in a higher, more expensive class). The reason for this is very simple. There can be many unforeseen situations, such as unexpected extensions, damage, periodic checks and so on. However, each customer can express their preference and we will do our best to allocate the requested car accordingly...

What is your fuel policy?

When you rent a car from us, the tank contains a certain amount of fuel. We expect you to return the car with the same amount of fuel in the tank. Otherwise, you will pay a €15 fee and an amount equivalent to the difference in fuel. The rental price does NOT cover fuel costs.

Do I need to provide my flight number?

Yes, it is very useful to give us this information. However, we recommend that all our customers contact us by phone when they are at the airport, ready to be picked up, so that we can speed up the pick-up process.

I have a discount voucher from AMA RENT A CAR. How can I use it?

Please contact the reservations department, which will make you a price offer, taking into account the voucher. If you prefer to confirm your booking on site, please use the 'Pay On Arrival' option and present your discount voucher at the desk. My colleagues will apply the discount for you. Please note that a discount voucher can only be used for a new booking.

I have a discount voucher. When does it expire?

Our credit vouchers have no expiry date.

Can I drive my car across the border?

We allow you to cross the border into certain countries, but you need our written consent and a power of attorney issued by us to do so.

Can I smoke in the car?

No. Our policy strictly forbids smoking in any of our machines. If you break this rule, you will pay a penalty fee of €100.
* This policy only applies to returns made at least one day in advance (24h).

My flight is delayed, what should I do?

No problem, all you need to do is inform our Customer Service Department at 0040758557799 about your delay and we will do our best to keep your car reserved until you arrive. We can discuss further details over the phone.

I returned the car with more fuel in the tank. How will I get my money back?

You will automatically receive a discount voucher for the extra fuel.

I returned the car early. How will I get my money back?

A discount voucher will be issued to you for a value equivalent to the value of the additional unused services, but limited to a maximum of three days. This voucher has no expiry date.

I'm late returning the car, is there a problem?

We allow an extra 2 hours for the return of your rental car, so even if you are a little late, it's no problem. If you are more than that late, you will be charged for a full extra day with all the services you add.

Rental locations and vehicles

How many locations do you have and where are they located?

AMA RENT A CAR has 2 locations . In Romania, we have offices in Bucharest-Otopeni and Iasi. .

Can I pick up the car from one location and drop it off at another location?

Yes, One Way service is available between offices in cities in the same country where you rented the car. The price of this service depends on the distance between the offices, and prices can be viewed directly on the website when you make your reservation or via WhatsApp call/message to 0040758557799.

What are your opening hours?

We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We advise you to look at your voucher, usually charges are levied for services between 22:00 and 6:00.

Complaints and damages

We had an accident with one of your cars. What should I do?

First, it is mandatory to call the Customer Service Department to report the accident and request assistance at the following number 0040758557799. The agents will tell you what documents you need to obtain, after which we will decide together whether or not to change the car, depending on the damage. If the car needs to be replaced, you will be informed of any further details.

I lost my car keys. What do I do?

You should call our customer service department immediately. One of our agents will arrange a key replacement as soon as possible and you will pay a fee.

Do I have to wash the car before returning it?

When the car is picked up, it will be cleaned and sanitised inside and out. On return, there is no car wash fee, nor is it necessary to clean it as this fee is included in the booking price.

An exception to this rule is cars that come with excessive dirt (litter, excess mud, dirty/clean/soiled upholstery). In this case, different fees are charged as stipulated in the car handover form, which you will have access to when you take over the car and sign the contract.

What is NOT included in the Helmet Insurance?

- Does not cover loss of keys;

- Does not cover damage to tyres and rims;

- Does not cover the inside of the car;

- It does not cover damage to the car in the event of total damage at the fault of the renter;

- It does not cover any damage if the renter has driven under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances;

- Does not cover loss or damage to the child car seat (if rented);

- It does not cover engine failure and damage in case of negligence;

- It does not cover car theft if you left your keys in the car;

- It does not cover road fines or bridge tolls;

- It does not cover fuelling the car with the wrong fuel;

- It does not cover loss or destruction of personal property;

- It does not cover any damage if the car is driven by someone other than those mentioned in the rental contract;

What does AMA RENT A CAR's car rental price include?

- Unlimited km if the rental period is longer than 3 days;

- VAT;

- Includes comprehensive insurance, only if, in case of damage, the renter provides AMA RENT A CAR with all necessary documentation:

  1. repair permit - is obtained from the nearest police station to the scene of the accident with no casualties;
  2. the amicable accident report;
  3. identification documents of the other road user involved in the accident;
  4. insurance photo of the other car involved in the accident;

- Spare car, in case of an accident not caused by the fault of the tenant;

- Free cancellation fee;

- Free transport to and from AMA Rent A Car - Airport;

- One additional driver/ additional free of charge;

Invoices and reimbursements

Can I get an invoice for your services?

Of course, when you pick it up, you will be asked how you prefer your invoice to be issued: in your name or in the name of a company, and the next day you will receive it by e-mail. If you do not receive your invoice by the next day, please contact the Customer Service Department at 0040758557799and the agents there will sort it out.

I received the invoice but the data is not correct. What should I do?

I paid in advance for an upcoming reservation, but now I have to cancel it. When can I get my money back?

- If you cancel your booking more than 24 hours before the pick-up date, you are eligible for a full refund, which will be processed within 5-7 days, MINUS 20 euros representing bank charges and logistic fees.

- If you cancel your reservation less than 24 hours before the pick-up date, your only option is to receive a discount voucher for the full amount, which can be used at any AMA RENT A CAR office at any time.

- If the CLIENT wishes to cancel a booking and block the amount paid in advance for a subsequent booking, we will issue a credit voucher for the full amount. All cancellations will be notified by e-mail to CONTACT@AMA-RENTACAR.RO or by clicking on the "Cancel" option in the "Manage Booking" email received by the CLIENT.

Doubts about lost property

What should I do if I forgot an object in the vehicle?

If you have left a personal item in your rental vehicle, you can send an e-mail, providing a description of the item, your contact number and the rental period. The customer service department can be contacted at the following e-mail address: CONTACT@AMA-RENTACAR.RO

How can I retrieve that object?

To recover a lost item, once you have confirmation that it has been found, you can pick up the item from the office where you dropped it off, send a family member or friend who is properly identified, or hire a courier service to pick up the item.
